North Carolina Side Trips

Durham isn't the only site North Carolina has to offer!  For anyone who wants to make a trip out of the weekend, North Carolina is a great summer destination for whatever you're into!

Anyone craving sun, sand and surf should head east to the Outer Banks

For those who love the mountains, The Great Smokey Mountain National Park is an easy and beautiful four-hour drive to western North Carolina.

  • Stop in Asheville on the way to visit the Biltmore Estate and grab a bite to eat at Tupelo Honey
  • One of America's most scenic drives, the Blue Ridge Parkway connects to the Great Smokey Mountains to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia (and can be accessed at various points along the way)
